Die Herausforderung
Der Online-Bildungsanbieter war schnell gewachsen, und seine Moodle-basierte Plattform hielt der Last nicht stand. Bei mehr als 500 gleichzeitigen Nutzern brachen die Videos ab, die Oberfläche war für nicht-technische Lernende verwirrend, es gab keine Gamification, und die Abschlussquote lag bei nur 22%. Gebraucht wurde eine maßgeschneiderte Plattform, die auf Hunderttausende Lernende skaliert, ohne die Nutzererfahrung zu opfern.
Unsere Lösung
Wir entwickelten ein LMS von Grund auf mit React und Node.js. Die Video-Infrastruktur nutzt Serverless-Transkodierung mit AWS MediaConvert und Auslieferung über CloudFront mit globalem Edge Caching. Wir implementierten ein Gamification-System mit täglichen Streaks, freischaltbaren Badges und wöchentlichen Leaderboards, das das Engagement in die Höhe trieb. Die Learning-Analytics-Engine mit xAPI erkennt Abbruchmuster und löst automatische personalisierte Benachrichtigungen aus. Das gesamte Frontend erfüllt WCAG 2.1 AA und unterstützt SCORM 2004 zum Import von Inhalten Dritter.

WCAG 2.1 AA and EAA
The European Accessibility Directive (EAA) requires educational platforms to comply with WCAG 2.1 level AA from June 2025. Keyboard navigation, NVDA/VoiceOver compatibility, minimum 4.5:1 contrast, video subtitles and audio description.
SCORM 1.2 / 2004
Full support of SCORM standards for importing and exporting content between LMS platforms. Progress tracking, scores, study time and completion status. Compatible with content created in Articulate, Captivate and iSpring.
xAPI (Tin Can API)
The successor to SCORM for advanced learning analytics. Records any learning experience (not just within the LMS): videos watched, documents downloaded, practical exercises, simulations and in-person activities. Own Learning Record Store (LRS).
LTI 1.3 / Advantage
Learning Tools Interoperability for securely integrating external tools: code editors, virtual labs, video conferencing tools, collaborative whiteboards. OAuth 2.0 authentication and bidirectional grade passing.
GDPR and educational data
Protection of minors data (parental consent for <14 years in Spain), academic performance data, data minimization, right to be forgotten and portability. Retention policies adapted to certification obligations.
Digital certificates
Issuance of verifiable digital credentials according to the Open Badges 3.0 standard and European Digital Credentials (EDCI). Public verification, shareable on LinkedIn and professional networks, with acquired competency metadata and training hours.
